Thriving Babies Therapy provides both clinic and concierge (home) visits so you have access to appointments that best work for you. Our clinic is currently inside of the Fem PT office in Forest, VA. We are willing to travel around the Lynchburg/Forest area as well as further upon request.

Evaluations are 60-90 min long and follow up treatments are 45-60 min long, depending on the infant’s tolerance and readiness for therapy. We do not expect or require newborn babies to stay awake for the duration of the appointment. Therapeutic intervention can be performed safely on babies while they are sleeping or breastfeeding. Additionally, part of the appointment is allocated for parent education.

Length of treatment depends on the age of the infant and severity of condition. We will provide a prognosis and estimated length of treatment time at your evaluation once we are able to meet your baby. Typically, recommendations are 3-12 visits total, but could change as progress is made through the plan of care. One thing we do know is that the earlier the treatment is started, the faster the resolution and the better the outcomes for all conditions. Although we will recommend what we think is best for your child based on clinical judgment and experience, you are the parent and have the right to request as much or little support as needed for your family. We do our best to teach you exercises and activities between sessions to help speed your child’s progress and help you feel equipped to be an important part of the treatment. We also know that the more the parents are involved and follow through on suggestions, the quicker progress can be made.

Thriving Babies Therapy LLC is considered an out-of-network practice and does not directly bill your insurance company. We require payment at the time of service, or agreed upon payment plan. However, we do provide you with a detailed invoice and superbill, upon request, to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. The superbill includes all the information, medical codes, treatment codes, and provider information needed to submit for reimbursement. Reimbursement is subject to each individual’s insurance plan and does not guarantee payment in full. We recommend verifying your out-of-network coverage for physical therapy services or calling your insurance company directly to find out the specifics on reimbursement. Wellness consults are not subject to reimbursement from insurance companies.

We accept cash, credit/debit cards, check, and HSA/FSA cards.

In the state of Virginia, you do not need a referral for physical therapy evaluation or treatment. However, we are happy to fax all evaluation information to the pediatrician/physician in order to collaborate with all members of your child’s medical team.

The goal of physical therapy is to provide your child with the ability to master all gross motor developmental skills including feeding, tummy time, head movements, reaching, rolling, sitting, crawling, transitioning, standing, walking. The goal of occupational therapy is to provide your child with the ability to master all fine motor milestones and sensory development including hand writing, reaching, hand movement, sensory diets, sensory stimulation, messy play, and behavioral issues. A child who has difficulty with any of these motor skills likely has a combination of areas that need to be addressed. Treatment for your child will consist of a individualized, multi-system approach with a combination of the following treatments: parent education, manual therapy, craniosacral fascial therapy, dynamic movement intervention (DMI), movement exercises, repositioning strategies, functional activities, age appropriate play activities, and sensory strategies.
